Skin spots | Age spots | Pigment disorders

The main causes of skin aging are a decrease in elastin, collagen, protein, and hyaluronic acid, meaning their functions decline. Additionally, the amount of fatty tissue in the skin decreases, making it thinner, less elastic, and more prone to tearing.

The skin changes with age: Dryness and the first fine lines appear in the late 20s, while from the mid-30s, the elasticity of the connective tissue decreases, and wrinkles deepen. As aging progresses, elasticity, blood circulation, moisture content, and sebum production continue to decline. The most important measures are sun protection and anti-aging care, ideally starting before aging becomes visible.

Skin spots, especially age spots, are caused by chronic or increased exposure to ultraviolet radiation, as found in sunlight. Factors such as diet, lifestyle, hormonal influences, or genetic predisposition can enhance the development of pigmentation spots. Vitamin C is an anti-aging ingredient as it stimulates collagen production, which can result in firmer skin. It can also help normalize melanin production, counteracting the formation of pigmentation spots.
